Antiques Web Show, Vol. 69

Egypt’s Omar Khorshid was a man of a harrowing life and an amazing musical style. One of the arab world’s most talented musicians lived through devastating warfare to create beautiful music. He died under mysterious circumstances after sharing the stage with an israeli musician in celebration of peace talks between israel and palestine in the US. Here’s 1977’s Guitar El Chark. It sounds like psychedelic surf-rock played through an egyptian filter. Definitely worth a listen.
